Our Summer at Silver Lake Resort

Every August my wife and I take our kids to Silver Lake Resort in June Lake, Ca. This resort is a good old-fashioned family run resort that was established in 1916 and they run things like the good old days. We stay in Cabin 8 every year which runs about $156 a night and sleeps 4. It is located right on Silver Lake and every day we will go to the general store pick up some bait and rent a boat for the day to go fishing.

I love the idea of staying somewhere that everyone treats each other like family, and that’s exactly what you get when you stay here. The general store runs on a ledger that you pay off at the end of your stay and the cabin doesn’t run like a hotel. You clean up after yourself, do your own dishes, take out your own trash, and even re-use your towels. There is a small koi pond that the kids love to play around at and there are so many pretty hikes connected to the resort with stunning views. You can also go down the road a few blocks and ride some horses.

If you take a trip around the June Lake Loop there are rope swings at Gull Lake, a beach at June Lake, and even a small town in June Lake with a brewery, pizza place, ice cream parlor, and a bait shop. Our family likes to take a day trip to the beach and rent paddle boards or kayaks, whatever you are in the mood for. It’s also a short 30 minute drive into Mammoth Lakes if you feel like venturing out.

If you stay at Silver Lake Resort I guarantee you will be friends with all the surrounding cabins by the time your stay is over. The campfire is where everyone meets at night and it’s so nice to just disconnect for a while, and I really mean disconnect because most cell phone companies do not work here. But who needs cell service when you are fishing, camping, and making s’mores?

There are so many types of experiences to take on your travels. Whether you’re traveling to Silver Lake Resort or an another travel adventure Heidi Nanigian will help you explore all the possibilities available for an amazing experience during your travel adventures.
