My wife and I recently traveled to Seattle Marriott to spend St. Patrick’s Day with friends and family. We flew from Oakland into Seattle on a very low fare sale.

We landed on St. Patrick’s Day early in the morning and were lucky to have my sister in law as our own private tour guide . She took us by a few of the top spots such as the Fremont troll, the Sleepless in Seattle house, and a quick drive through the downtown area. That morning we had breakfast at Portage Bay which might be the best breakfast I have had in a long time. I am not an organic person or healthy by any means but all their food is local and organic, and their slogan is “eat like you give a damn.”

From there we checked into our hotel at the Marriott Waterfront, and since we told the front desk associate we were celebrating our 5-year anniversary he put us in a very nice waterfront view room. We stay in Marriott’s all the time and this was one of the nicest and centrally located hotels we have ever been to. It comes with amazing views and is only a 3-block walk from all the attractions around Pike Place.

For the night we attended the St. Patrick’s Irish Festival at Kell’s Irish Restaurant and Bar. The entry fee was $20 but it came with a free shirt and access to 3 pubs that were all connected by an alley and tented off for the festival. It was well worth the money and especially the authentic Irish men in kilts playing the bagpipe going throughout the festival.

The following day we saw all the “must-sees” in downtown Seattle from the famous Gum Wall, Original Starbucks, and the Pike Place Market. They even let my wife catch a huge dead fish in the fish market. The smile on her face was well worth the $20 tip I gave him afterwards.

All in all, Seattle is a “must-visit “ city that you can really cram into just a few days. Also, I know you are probably thinking I left off a crucial review of the Space Needle but with my fear of heights we decided to skip this one “must see” attraction.
