Antarctica and the Falkland Islands
Antarctica and the Falkland Islands are breathtakingly beautiful. A land of extremes, Antarctica is the 5th largest and most Southern continent. It is also the driest and coldest continent on Earth with the highest average elevation. Antarctica is scarcely touched by humans and houses only a few thousand permanent scientist residents. As a result, Antarctica has breathtaking scenery and visitors are rewarded with amazing scenery and tremendous and unique wildlife including migratory birds, penguins, fish and marine animals such as whales along its shoreline. Even the trip over, crossing the Southern Ocean is an experience in itself. Almost all visitors to Antarctica find that their experiences here exceed their expectations.
The Falkland Islands are ~300 miles south of South America and hold to mid Antarctica climates. The islands boast a wide variety of wildlife and scenic views. The island’s culture is a mix between Hispanic South America and British with a population under 3000. The beauty that resides in this southern cold paradise is a great addition to any traveler’s bucket list.
